Step 1: Choose the place for HaftSin Table
Pick a clean, bright table in your home
Use a tablecloth (white, traditional Persian patterns for instance: Termeh, Ghalamkar, or modern style)
Step 2: Prepare the seven “S” items
Place these on the table, usually in small bowls or dishes:
Sabzeh – sprouts (center or main focus)
Samanu – sweet wheat pudding
Seeb – apples
Seer – garlic
Senjed – dried oleaster fruit
Somāq – sumac
Serkeh – vinegar
Arrange them symmetrically or in a circle—there’s no strict rule.
Step 3: Add traditional items
These are optional but common:
Mirror (at the back, facing the table)
Candles (usually two, one on each side of the mirror)
Decorated eggs
Goldfish in a bowl (optional)
Coins
Hyacinth (Sonbol) flower
Holy book (Qur’an, Divan of Hafez, Shahnameh, etc.)
Step 4: Final touches
Light the candles at the moment of Nowruz
Keep the table set for 13 days
On Sizdah Bedar, take the Sabzeh outside and release it into nature
